Like To Walk On Your Own?

For those who prefer the higher hills, there are over 60 Munros within from 5 to 60 minutes' drive of the hotel, including all of Britain's highest hills. Main areas include the Cairngorms, the Monadhliath, Drumochter, Ben Alder, Creag Meagaidh, Loch Laggan, Glen Nevis, and the Mamores. These include walking of all lengths and grades of difficulty.

Rambles and Easy Walking

Alvey House is ideally situated for access to the best of Scotland's walking from gentle strolls in the forests of the Spey valley to long, challenging days among some of the best of Scotland's Munros.

There is easy walking around Newtonmore itself, following the local 10k Wildcat Trail, and numerous waymarked paths within a few miles of the hotel, including Rothiemurchus Forest, and Glenmore Forest Park. Contact us for more info.

The hotel has a good drying room, equipment store and laundry service and we can provide early/late meals to suit your itinerary and packed lunches to complete your day.
 

 
Or Walk With a Group?

In association with professional, fully qualified guides, we provide guided, supported walking and instruction for individuals and small groups. We also provide centre-based walking holidays for from 8-16 people where we can tailor the itinerary, grade and duration to suit the needs of the party.
